It is payware, but for what you get it looks a reasonable price (£22.50 GBP). I'd suspect that there would be a mode/option to make changes permanent but I've never played with the softare. Apparently, you should choose This PC if the target drive is only a partition on the internal/external hard disk, memory card, or the flash drive. Obviously, the CD/DVD Drive option is designed for only the optical discs like CD and DVD. I suspect what you actually want is DeepFreeze which would prevent any changes to your system being permanent so all changes get wiped on a restart. In Hard Disk Drive, only the hard disk drives (both internal and external) will be shown. However if you need any specific software reinstalled or if the license agreement does not permit us to use cloning technology, we will reimage your computercompletely restoring it to its original state.

Similarly creating the image would be a laborious task too and would take a bit longer than the re-image. If the license agreement allows it, we would recommend cloning your hard drive with its original version of Windows and all of your necessary software (including serial numbers).

The problem with this solution is that it could take anywhere from half an hour up to a few hours to re-image as your base image could be quite large with Win7. The data will, however, be on the hard drive for life. Reinstall is often used in place of reimage. It is necessary to perform a PC reimage when the system is plagued with malware infections or Windows becomes corrupted or damaged. In other words, the applications will be deleted as well. If you reimage your computer, all software on the device will be removed and everything is reinstalled. In this way, all applications are restored to their original state and anything not present when the computer left the factory is removed. If you absolutely have to re-image every time you start up then you may be wanting a copy of Norton Ghost, I think it has sufficient command line abilities to be able to make a batch script to restore a partition. Factory resets are important, however, to know what they actually do.

I can suggest a couple of options, of varying painfulness. So far, we show you how to image a hard drive in Windows 10/8/7 with MiniTool ShadowMaker with simple steps.
